Bio
OLIVIA DE MELO | INDIE / ALT / POP
Olivia De Melo writes indie songs that wander across genres, and has taken them from Perth stages to national and international touring dates, including the UK and Europe.
Her releases dip into multi-genre waters, but what remains iconic is De Melo’s distinctive alt pop vocals with rich harmonies and melody lines which allow her to swim in any genre of music, whilst remaining identifiably unique.
Olivia planted herself in the Perth music scene when she picked up her poetry book, taught herself the guitar, & re-sparked her lost passion for music & performing from her school days.
Performing in many of WA’s most popular venues, De Melo has supported & played alongside Aussie & WA favourites including Abbe May, Dulcie, Nick Cunningham, Timothy Nelson, Joan & The Giants, Otiuh, Old Blood, Riley Pierce, Teisha, Jordy Maxwell, & Michael Dunstan.
Balancing a life teaching in the special needs and disability sector juxtaposed with a passion for song-writing, the academic and the muso inside of Olivia are in sync.
The RTRFM radio presenter is also a passionate advocate for mothers and women in the music industry.

Perth, Australia’s soulful songstress known as Olive commands your undying attention in her new single, “Senseless”. Her debut single, “Changing The World” dropped on Earth Day 2017 to coincide with global consciousness about environmental sustainability. With such a righteous introduction as an underground artist, she’s left new fans rife with anticipation for her next move. “Senseless” is a dagger digging into her heart with a haunting music video that proves this follow up was worth the wait.
VENTS Magazine“I had a lot in common with the objective of Ear Science Institute Australia with this particular campaign, which is not only about raising awareness for people with hearing loss, but also for a minority group I think often gets overlooked within society.” “I am passionate about raising awareness for the challenges people face in their day-to-day life; this campaign and my single ‘Changing the World’ are aiming to do that.”
